what = all that
all that意思更加强烈一点
要替代what的话,就一定要在all后面用that,相当于固定词组了.
补充：
我知道了,Tell （us all） what had happened
括号里是“我们所有人”,all是us的同位语
第2句其实应该是Tell us (all that) had happened
括号里是“所有...的事”
