In recent years , a number of English books about tourism have been published to introduce the beautiful and attractive cities in China. What’s more, guide CDs become more and more popular and detailed. Besides what is mentioned above, the government also build tourism websites making full use of the Internet to offer an opportunity to let more people know about China. However, the fact is that , lack of qualified C-E translators always have been a big problems in thetourism industry. Though there are many small translation companies and students majoringin English, they are not specialized and the customers can’t be satisfied with their service.All of these have lead to a lot of misunderstandings of the foreigners about the streets, hotels, restaurants and other auxiliary tourism facilities, which eventually made the foreign people have misconceptions about Chinese culture. Consequently, in order to promote the development of China’s tourism industry ,we need to take measures to improve the translators’ quality of English and do a better job to provide a good environment for the translators to keep on developing skills and expertise.
