1.other可用作形容词,修饰单、复数名词.如：
We study Chinese,maths,English and other lessons．我们学习语文、数学、英语和其他课程.
I have no other place to go．我别无去处.
2.the other表示两者中特指的“另一个”或“另一部分”.如：
Where is the other sock?另一只袜子在哪里?
John is here,but the other children are at school．约翰在这里,其他的孩子都在学校.
3.another用于泛指三个以上的不定数目中的“另一个”,后面可接单数名词,也可省略后面的名词,用作代词.如：
I don”t like this coat．Please give me another（one）．我不喜欢这件外套,请再给我拿一件.
I have another three days” holiday．我又有三天假.
