About the tragedy of Tess, I think we can analyse it from three aspects: fate,society and characteristic. Alec and Angel delegate two kinds of people in that society.Alec represents the might who dominate the society. Angel represents the gentry who talk the noble morality on one hand and have diffirent kinds of prejudice on the other hand. Both of them result in Tess's tragedy. At the same time ,Tess's weak and srtong will quicken her tragedy.
