The Olympic Games started in Greece in 1896. The Games are held once four years. Many people hope the Olympic Games can be held in their own countries. About ten cities are interested in bidding for the Olympic Games of 2008. “Beijing, Toronto and Paris are the most important cities bidding for the Olympic Games of 2008.” Said Richard W. Pound, the IOC’s （奥委会） first vice president. “the host city of the Olympic Games of 2008 will be decide at the IOC meeting in Moscow July this year. Beijing is getting ready for them because it nearly became the host of the Olympic Games of 2000, and Toronto and Paris also have strong power,” Said Pound at an IOC meeting. The Olympic Games of 2000 were held in Sydney. Our players did very well in the Games. Now we are all very excited and we are looking forward to the Olympic Games because they have never been held before in our country.
