There are a variety of differences exist between English and Chinese.First,in term of the writing system,English uses the Latin alphabet which is a Phonogram,whereas Chinese characters are mainly compose of Phono-semantic compounds,Ideogrammic compounds and Pictograms,the writing system of Chinese is far more complicate than English.Secondly,in term of grammar,Chinese is lack in verbal transformations which are very common in English and other Indo-European languages.For example,Chinese have neither the past tense for verbs or transforming verbs into noun.However,in Chinese,classifiers are used before nouns to define the quantity of a given object,whereas classifiers are very uncommon in English.
