will一般这样用：I will succeed（我一定要成功）,表示一种决心的语气,这种执意一般不用在间接.
而is to do sth是执意、想要的意思.
那么例句中就不应该翻译成“执意”,因为if a man will succeed和If they will* pay in cash 中的两个will意义不一样.前者强调“想要达成什么目的”,后者强调“坚持自己的做法”.翻译成中文都是执意,这就是为什么不要用汉语来学英语.
