The Wolf And The Lamb
One day a lamb and a wolf came at the same time to a mountain stream to quench their thirst.The wolf was very hungry,and wanted very much to have the lamb for his lunch.He tried first to find some excuse.So he said,“How dare you make the water dirty for me to drink?” The lamb was much frightened and replied timidly,“How can that be?You are standing farther up the stream than I,and the water flows from you to me.” The lamb had spoken the truth,but this only made the wolf angry,and he said to himself,“Now I will surely eat that lamb.” So he said,“You are a rogue,anyway.I hear that last year you said bad things about me and laughed at me.” “How can that be?” asked the poor lamb.“I am only a few months old.Last year I was not yet born.” “Then it was your father,” cried the wolf,and he did not wait for any further reply,but he caught the lamb and ate him up
The tyrant will always find a pretext for his tyranny.
