King Midas was a miser.That means a man who loves money .one day he was walking in his palace garden.An old man ,whose name was Bacchus,came up to him and said,"you were once very kind to a friend of mine.Wish for anything you like and I'll give it to you."The king replied at once ,"I love gold.I want everything I touch to be changed into gold.""Very well,"said Bacchus,"Everything you touch will be turned into gold."Then the old man disappeared.
King Midas was very pleased.He touched a large stone in front of his right foot.The stone was changed into gold at once.He touched a beautiful red rose and the petals turned into a golden bee.King Midas was changedat once into a golden bee.King Midas was very excited.He touched many flowers and plants and statues in the garden.He rushed into the palace and touched chairs and tables and vases.It was true!Everything he touched turned into gold."I shall be the richest king in the whole world!" cried Midas."I am the luckiest man alive."
But soon Midas became hungry.He picked up an apple.He tried to bite it,but it turned into gold!Everything he tried to eat or drink changed into gold ."Oh dear!" said the king ."What a foolish man i am!I can't eat or drink anything at all I shall die."
Just then his daughter came running into the room.
