Agree; wide knowledge,literal ability (reading helps writing and speaking.) learn more words.More reading maybe means less time for other bad activities,such as tv game or something else.
Disagree:bad reading materials,bad effect.Crime,romance and horror etc,too young to read these stuff,confusing their pure mind for this complex society.Bad for their eye sight,may be not enough exercise because of too much reading.,
Conclution:it is a balancing problem of how much and how to read.Parents and teachers have the responsibilities to guide children read right.
