For instance,we could see the phrase "the child" keeps appearing in the first paragraph of the article.
Because the child is the key point of the whole story and is of significant importance.
The author wants to remind us of the relation&connection between the protagnist and the child.
For example,in the first paragraph of the story < she knew that she carried with her-a child>
the author trys to emphasis that the protagonist was unacceptable and unbelievable that she's carrying a baby.That's why the author keeps using the child to stress the unwillingness and refusal of the protagonist.
But after a third thought,she gradually realized the uniqueness and importance of her child,then she's willing to accept the kid.
However,at the end of the story,her child died from her dystocia when she wants to be a mother.
This woman blame the cruelty of god with her great bitterness.
This phrase,"the child",is the expression of this whole story.
so it's reasonable to repeat the phrase to show the integrity of the story.

But I believe that as least the woman realized the definition of love,somehow this is the good in it.
Her reactions are quite normal,I might behave just like her,reject the fact of carrying a child,if I were her,
It's turned out that calm thought is quite important.If you can think twice,you might could learned what is love and truth.
As long as you thinking calmly,you could and can change everything.
If the woman didn't think calmly,she might has already abort it.
hence I strongly believed that think calmly is of great importance in our lives.
