die 是瞬间动词,不能和表示一段时间的词连用.一楼的说法有误,如果没有一段时间的状语,就可以用现在完成时：
His mother has died for three years(错误）
His mother has died (对）
另外瞬间动词的否定的完成时不受此限制：
He has left home for three years (X)
He has left home (V)
He hasn't left home for three years(V)
