Most forgetting takes place immediately after learning.An hour after learning something new,more than 50% is forgotten.One month later 80% will be gone.
This shows that review is very important.If you review new material you have learnt,you remember much more.It is important to review newly learnt material a little and often.It’s also necessary to have frequent（频繁的）breaks.We best remember what we learn at the beginning of a learning period and at the point where we stop.After the break,it’s necessary to review what was learnt before the break and then continue（继续）learning the new material（材料）.
Other experiments have shown that the brain needs time to “digest（消化）” what has been learnt.The time necessary for this is 5 to 10 minutes.After a break of this time the memory will have absorbed（吸收）what it has just learnt,and more will be remembered.During the break it is important to exercise the brain,because the left side is used during a learning period.Therefore you should relax（放松）in some ways.Learning to enjoy music,breathing in fresh air,and looking at a picture,are all ways of using the other side of the brain.
