Like banana trees,suger cane is planted in long rows,and the plants grow quickly if they get plenty of water.In the areas where there is little water,small ditches are dug between the rows.This farming method allows for more water to be supplied to the crop.This is called irrigation.It is easier for crops to be irrigated where land is level.That is one reason why the suger cane is grown on plains and not on the sides of mountains.
