In the 16th century ,many European noblemen had a very expensive hobby. They built impressive palaces just for pleasure.They collected palaces like other people collect trophies.The richest noblemen could have several palaces with several dozen rooms.All rooms were turnished in the latest fashion.They often built their palaces in different countries too.Many palaces stood empty most of the time, because their owners had no time to visit them all.But were the owners worried about spending so much money on buildings that no one used? This didn't matter:these massive buildings made their owners prond,and gave them prestige.That was all that mattered to them.
