When I was in China,I went to Chengdu three times and I must say it is a great place to spend a few days.Its food is one of the many great things that I would suggest checking out.
Check out the street vendors(摊贩).If you see street vendors selling food on sticks,buy it.It is called shao kao (barbecue) and it’s great.It’s also unhealthy if you have too much,I am sure.
Hotpot (huo guo in Chinese).It’s a Sichuan delicacy(佳肴).Don’t be afraid to try a little.Overall Chengdu has the advantage of being a modern day city.It has five-star hotels and great restaurants.At the same time it has rinky-dink shops(卖便宜货的小店),cheap hotels,great bars,and an awesome(极好的) night life.It doesn’t suffer from much pollution and is not so noisy.
