Marilyn Bowering was born in Winnipeg,Manitoba and raised in Victoria,British Columbia,where she received her MA in English from UVic in 1973.Working in both fiction and poetry,Bowering most recently won the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize in 1998 for Visible Worlds.She is an active participant of the WIER project,an e-mail based educational forum which encourages and assists aspiring student-writers.Bowering still resides in the Victoria area of Sooke.
