Each and every year,thousands of young people in British finish school and decide not to start work or go to university at once.Instead,they take a year off.They call this year a gap year.During the gap year,some of these young people go to other countries and work as volunteers to help people.
One of these young people is 18-year-old Pauline.Pauline plans to go to university next year.However,she is now living in Belize,in Central America.She is working with the local people to save the coral reefs in the sea near Belize.She is staying with a local family and she helps with the housework.Pauline does not get any money for her work there,but she is having a great time.When she finishes her work,she will stay in Belize for another three months.She wants to travel arund Belize and visit other countrise in Central America.
