Always do your very best
An old carpenter（木匠）was ready to retire（退休）.He told his boss about his plans to leave.
His boss was sorry to see his worker go.He asked if he could build him just one more house as a favor（善行）.The carpenter said yes,but he was not really interested.He used poor materials and didn’t work as before.
When the carpenter finished his work,his boss came to see the new house.He handed the front-door key to the carpenter.“This is your house,” he said,“my gift to you.”
What a shock!（太让人震惊了!）What a shame（可惜）!If he had only known he was building his own house,he would have done it all so differently.
Sometimes we do not give the job our best effort（努力）.Then we find that we must live in the house we built for ourselves.
Thinking of yourself as the carpenter.Think about your house.Each day you are building it.It is the only life you will ever build.Even if you live in it for only one day,that day should be lived with dignity（尊严）.Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past.Your life tomorrow will be the result.
