The Great Wall of China is the largest earth work in the world.It begin from Shanghaiguan Pass on the east coast and ends at Jiayuguan Pass in the Gobi Desert.The main part of the wall is about 2150 miles long,about the same distance as that between London and Moscow.
The Great Wall began as seperate walls between the 7th and 6th centuries BC.In fact,it did not become the "Great Wall" until the Qin Dynasty to keep the enemies out of China,QinShihuang,the First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty,ordered his people connect the separate walls.The building of the Great Wall continued during the later dynasties.Each dynasty added to the wall's height and length.It reached 6400 kilometres in length in the Ming Dynasty.
Now the Great Wall is a world-famous tourist attraction.It is the symbol of the wisdom of the ancient Chinese.
