请问这是为什么要这样加呢?

这里 the Browns 和 the Greens 在这里表示 布朗一家人 和格林一家人
所以就应该是The Browns' house is bigger than the Greens'.
布朗一家人的房子比格林一家的房子大.
要是把句中的两个the 都去掉就变成
Brown's house is bigger than Green's 布朗的房子比格林的大.意思上就有差异了.
