Nothing is wrong.
Schools in China focus in grammar which is very good.
The students might not have chances to practice English daily,but this situation occurs for all languages around the world.This is a normal phenomenon.
In my own opinion,excelling in Chinese now is the number one priority because Chinese is getting more powerful.
