Dear Principal,Ms.Lam,teachers,and fellowstudents.Good morning!I am the chairman of the Students’ Olympics Committee,Patrick.It’s my great honour to stand on this podium to deliver a speech about Living theOlympic spirit.I’d like to thank Ms Lam for giving an opportunity for me toshare with all of you.
In youropinion,what’re Olympic spirits?Winning championship,fighting for nationalglory,or defeating other athletes?Wrong,wrong,wrong!These’re not the realOlympic spirits.In my point of view,“obeying never give up” is the main ideasof Olympic Games.
Dearschoolmates,have you fail in your exam?What did you do after receiving yourpapers?I’d like to tell you a story about a sturdy,optimistic man called MattEmmons.Emmons is one of the top marksmen in the world.In Athens,he wasclosing in on a second gold medal.Despite leading when he was going to thelast shot of the event,he didn’t get the championship.Do you know why?Hemade a mistake which cannot be remedied – he nailed the target of the athletenext to him.All people were shocked after his pistol went off,includinghimself.If you were Emmons,what would you do?
Hedidn’t give up,and competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics again.Unfortunately,the same thing happened,he got 4.4 scores only in the last round -- the goldmedal has slipped away from his hand AGAIN.Even though he became a loser,hedidn’t grumble.On the contrary,he handled the failure buoyantly.“Thingshappen for a reason," Emmons said."I said that last time,and it'sthe truth.Maybe last time,the reason was Katy.This time I don't know yet,but I'm sure something good's going to come from it." Students,remember,The best is yet to come!It’s not a big deal if you fail in exam or lose incompetition.
