The different culture between China and western countries
Everyone knows that there have lots of differences between China and western countries.
Such as values ,single standard,social etiquette,and so on .for example ,in china when we meet a acquaintance in the street ,we always ask with care :hi buddy,you look a little fat than before ,or hello man ,you look are so thin what ‘the matter with you?But in western countries when they hear this questions ,they will be very embarrassed and didn’t know how to answer it.
It is easy to see from the above examples :cultural barriers will truly affect cross-cultural communications .So it is necessary to study the differences between different cultures.
This differences we can summarized as the following 4 tips.The principle one is “Differences in value Concept and moral Criteria”—personal Honour VS Modesty ,let ‘s read this conversation and we can hold this :A（foreigner）:You English is very good!B(Chinese student ):No No,My English is very poor .A:You ’ve done a good job!B:I don’t think so ,It is the result of joint efforts.We can see from the above conversion that Chinese people always humility ,and this make foreigners feel so sham .Besides is “Differences in social relation ”.—Nucleus Family (western)VS Four –generation-under-the-same –Roof (CHN) .Most the people consider that is the biggest difference.In China people attach great importance to family and friendship.As we always say “All give a hand,when someone is suffered difficulties” .But in western countries ,they’ll always don’t do anything,they always say “It is you business ,Not my business ”.Still is Differences in social Ceremony .In China ,When we greeting others ,we always ask” Have you have meal?” ,”Where are you going”.As a foreigner hear what we ask this ,and they maybe misunderstanding about that.In western country they greeting someone often use “how do you do ”,or “Nice day ,isn’t?”.Fourth is Differences in social customs .In western country ,women are have a lots of respect .For example ,“Ladies First”.But,In China ,There aren’t have a lots of respect for women.
I think either China or western countries have many advantages and strengths that should learn from each other ,help each other ,and more communicate to each other .I believe both China and western countries will have very bright future
