China is the largest developing country in the world,with a population accounting for 22% of the world’s total.Over a long period of time the country was plagued by poverty for various reasons.In the middle of 1980s most rural areas saw rapid economic development by capitalizing on their distinctive advantages.However,a minority of areas were still beset with slow economic growth due to economic,social,historical and natural reasons.The Chinese government took practical measures to relieve property and spur economic and social development on a nationwide scale,with an aim to help those inadequately fed and clothed out of poverty.As a result,the country’s poverty was significantly alleviated.
