If和wish后用were还是was
我在语法书上看到这样一句话:在If和wish后要用were,而不是was如:If i were you ,I wouldn't buy that coat.或If i was you.把我懵了,那到底是要用were还是was啊?如果两个都可以,那有什么区别?什么时候该用were什么时候该用was?

与现在和将来的虚拟语气有关,与过去的虚拟语气没关系了.
1.主语是第一和三人称单数
当主语是第一和三人称单数时,实际口语使用中,If I/he/she was...远多于 If I/he/she were.
正式书面英语中,后者多于前者.
“如果我是一只老鹰”,可译为 If I was an eagle,.或 If I were an eagle,.口语中前者远多.但“如果我是你”这句具体的句子,却多译为 If I were you.
例子:
If I was to study at Oxford,I would be over the moon.
If she was to go to Oxford,she would have told me.
2.主语是第二人称,则用 were.
