though和although在意义上几乎无区别，但文体上后者是较正式用词，语气比though强。此外，在习惯用法上这两个词仍有以下一些差异：
1. though可引出倒装语序的让步状语从句，although 则不能。
He still argues, though wrong he knows he is. 虽然他知道错了，可仍在争辩。
2. though可与even连用，although则不能；在as though结构中，只用though，不能用although。
Even though it was raining, she walked to work. 即使下雨，她也要走着去工作
They looked as though they had been quarreling. 看起来他们刚才好像在吵架
3. though可以置于从句末，而although则不能。
It is hard work, I enjoy it, though. 这是件艰难的工作, 可是我还是喜欢它。
I wish you had told me, though. 话虽这样说, 你告诉我就好了。
4. 引出省略句时，通常用though。
He's very attractive, though certainly not a lady-killer. 他很有魅力，虽然还不至于使女人一见倾心。
