非谓语填空的疑问~
After the Indians ______(settle) in their new settlement,········为什么这个空填的是settled?settle与indians不是主动关系吗?
还有：On the way home we decided to spend the whole afternoon______(lock) in the study doing some research on the vase.这个空为什么也要locked呢?
第二句可以翻译为被锁吗？感觉意思不太通顺！应该是我们决定花一整个下午的时间研究花瓶，怎么可能是被锁呢？这里的lock还有没有可能是别的意思？
