According to the listening material,the man claims that group work can not bring the advances stated by the reading passage.Equipped with lots of demerits,working as a team remains not being considered by him.To give evidence to support his concept,the lecturer demonstrates several standpoints.
Initially,the lecturer puts emphasis on that the group is as a whole,meaning,no individuals will be mentioned when the group achieves success.But some of the group members had devoted themselves to the task,while some of them did no contribution to it.No wonder that this kind of phenominum is universal,and it is an abstract of unfair treatment.However,the reading material insists that the individiual team members are endowed with much better chances to show themselves.
Besides,there must be no posibility for the group to make a response quickly,for more time is required to make an final agreement on some issues than making the decisions by one's own,when people in the group are willing to get a 'freeride'.On the contrary,the reading passage take it for granted that team work can save time since every one in the team will let his or her understanding contribute to timely responses and highly creative solutions.
Finnally,based on the drawbacks given above,the team owns more posibility to get a failure instead of success,which the reading passage supported the team to get.At that time,the lecturer argues,the whole team would be blamed even if some of them have nothing to do with the unpleasant outcome.
