Sprints over 20 m
Sprints over a distance of 20 m (previously used to measure sprint acceleration ability,McBride et al.2002) were performed from a standing start and measured by means of infrared photocells (RS
Sport,Zagreb,Croatia).The subject was initially standing with his rear (swing) leg on a contact mat.He was instructed to accelerate as quickly as possible through the timing gate positioned 20 m from the starting line.Moving the rear leg from the contact mat initiated a digital timer (resolution 1 ms).Each subject performed three trials and the best result (i.e.,the shortest time) was taken for further analysis.
