With the development of education,faculty quality is the most important element to judge whether a college or university is challenging or not,and thus it has become a focus whether it is necessary for faculty to spend time working outside the academic world in professions.In my point of view,I am inclined to the view that faculty should spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach.
Text book is an important source for students to receive and absorb knowledge,and thus text books are very useful in students’ study.Yet,though text books are very classical because they are compiled by many education experts,they fail to keep pace with the development of the science and technology.For example,computer science is important specialty that apply to our life closely,while the concept in computer science is updating considerably fast in our society.However,our text books are not updating,and hence result in the consequence that students can not keep pace with the development of science and technology.And such situation is also happened in other specialties.To solve this problem,it is necessary for faculty to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach.
Then,faculty can have a better command of the courses they teach by working outside the academic world.Since education develops very fast in our society,the shortage of Faculty of university and college is more serious than before.As a result,Universities and colleges hired too many faculty who have not enough experience in teaching but only with their academic degree,and thus students cannot receive a favorable education from courses of these young teachers.According to the situation,it is necessary for faculty to broaden their horizon,strengthen their knowledge and linking theory with practice by spending time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach.
What’ more,it is very indispensable for students to learn more about the prospect of their specialty in order to decide what area in their specialty they want to develop.However,the education of employment guidance is too feeble because the faculty of universities and colleges know little about the prospect of their courses.
Students can learn more about the information and set a aspect they want to develop in their specialty by absorbing their the experience of their faculty.
To summary,I hope that measures should be taken to guarantee that faculty will spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach.Only by this can students nowadays receive better education and become more competitive in our society.courses they teach.
