It is with regret that I must ask you to accept a temporary reduction in the agreed rate of commission.I make this request because of an increase in manufacturing costs due to additional duties on our imported raw materials,and to our inability either to absorb these higher costs or to pass them on to consumers.In the event,our profits have been reduced to a level which no longer justifies continued production.
This situation is disturbing but we feel sure it will be purely temporary.In the circumstances we hope you will accept a small reduction of,say,1.5%in the agreed rate of commission.You have our promise that as soon as trade improves sufficiently we shall return to the rate originally agreed.
