Currently, advertising is playing a key role in the development of market economy and individual lives, yet another issues has given rise to debate. Some people argue that advertising encourages customers to buy products which they not really need; while others don't agree. Personally spaking, I tend to support the former view.
It is evidently reasonable for some people to think that advertising leads people to spaend vast amounts of money to by goods they not need. Firstly, advertising may conceal the goods' disadvantage, which leads people to see just the gorgeous surface of goods such as high quality and varied functions on the TV screen or outdoor poster. Secondly ,some sales strategies could be used in the advertising .For example ,We always hear some “on sale” advertising on TV and radio .some customers may rush to buy it compulsively soon after get to know the ads, But in fact ,they can not benefit from the so called discount. As a result, they just buy dozens of useless items.
What’s more, advertising encourages people to pursue fashion in modern city. By catch customers`vanity, advertising can easily make them buy lots of luxury goods which may overweight their economic capability.
Admittedly, advertising has some advantages for both individual and society, it could make our shopping experience less time consuming and more economical, for instance, people can get mass information from the advertising. Despite the fact, I guess it is not the only way for people to save time and get information on shopping, we can just shop on the Internet and find whatever we needed, it’s more effective than watching advertising without a clear propose.
In conclusion .I hold the view that advertising may waste people's money, and I firmly suggest that government should take some measurement to protect folks’ profit's on shopping.
