恕本人孤陋寡闻,只见过in detail,没有见过in details.


例子：
We haven't discussed the matter in detail yet.（我们还没有详细地讨论那件事情.）
The book described her sufferings in graphic detail.（那本书以图表的形式详细地描述她的苦难.）
He talked in great detail about the curtains he's chosen for his lounge.（他很详细地谈到他为自己的起居室选择的窗帘.）


类似的还有,at (great) length,in (great) surprise 等,其中的名词都不需要复数形式.

detail 是可数名词，有复数形式，就像surprise，length等，都可以加上-s，但是作为一个副词短语，表示状态，那就是不可数了，所以是 in detail。
