It was raining cats and dogs.I stood inside of school with a lady standing next to me.She talked to me a lot,but I didn’t even know what she said because I was nervous.“I don’t know,” said I.I only have those words in my mind at the time.She stared at me for a while,and said lightly,“Stupid.” I heard that word,though it was in a low voice.It really hurt my feelings.How can she be so rude?Is everyone who can’t speak English stupid in her opinion?I couldn’t stand it.
I yelled to her,“Excuse me.”
She realized that I heard what she said.“I’m really sorry about that.I didn’t mean it.” She apologized to me.
I gave a shrug of the shoulders and then got out of the school.I closed my eyes,and her voice was lingering in my mind.I’ve never been so angry,though I had been abused in foul languages before.I didn’t know why I became so angry,but I did know that the rain can calm me down.
After that day,I was thinking about what the problem was.If everyone is so rude,what would I do for myself?Someone once said,“When you can’t change the environment you are in,you must change yourself.” Maybe the only way I could do for myself is to prove my English,I thought.So I tried my best to learn English in many ways,such as talking with people in English,watching English movies and reading English novels.
My English is making great progress now.I realized that how interesting English was.Colleges are good places where I can read English literature,learn what I’m interested in,and make a lot of friends.With the help of colleges,I will become successful and be treated with respect.
