The programming language JAVA is the main teaching vehicle for this program.It is assumed that students will be proficient in the JAVA programming language prior to the commencement of their program.The School of Computer Science expects that students will have the knowledge contained in the recommended text book,Big Java by Cay Horstmann,published by J Wiley & Sons,2002 or later edition.Students should also consult the reference book Java Software Solution by Lewis and Loftus,published by Addison Wesley,2000 or later edition.Students may wish to audit the Computer Science Concepts course to provide the pre-requisite knowledge of the JAVA programming language.Students who do audit this course will neither be required to pass it nor pay for it.Students intending to complete this course will need to confirme the commencement date with the School of Computer Science and arrive in Adelaide in time for Computer Science Concepts,which will start approximately two weeks before official classes commence.Please note that it will be difficult to progress in your program of study without a strong knowledge of JAVA.
