The concept of a machining center is to bring the machine to the work.In recent years,however,the term machining center has come to be associated almost exclusively with a single machine,usually incorporating automatic tool changing,a rotary table which facilitates circular machining,and one or two integral worktables.Such a machine is usually designed to perform operations on at least four and sometimes five surfaces.There are some machining centers with automatic tool changes in vertical and horizontal configurations.A typical machining center may use 50 or more tools.
